Millions of people have played the video game Halo, or one of its several successors, and they haven’t just played a game – they have played a game with a memorable soundtrack. It conveys so well the action and suspense of a battle between humanity and a fanatical, multi-species enemy called the Covenant. Enjoy.

Readers may recall the Animals’ House of the Rising Sun, recorded in 1964. There’s much uncertainty about the origin of the song, whether it refers to an actual building in New Orleans (of whatever name), and what activity may have occurred there. What’s undisputed, I think, is that the song is memorable.
