Here’s the Friday open comments post.
Today’s suggested topic is open — after a hiatus of two weeks, this libertarian website will not confine the topic in any narrow way. Roam at will.
The use of pseudonyms and anonymous postings is, of course, fine.
Although the comments template has a space for a name, email address, and website, those who want to leave a field blank can do so. Comments will be moderated, against profanity or trolls. Otherwise, have at it.
I’ll keep the post open through Sunday afternoon.
Have at it.
I’m still waiting for more cat pix. I’m getting desperate.
Hi Adams — Glad your Comment Forum is back. I saw your post on the Whitewater Tech Park, and I’m glad that you’re watching town closely. You’re a patient and dogged person. Please keep going.
P.S. Virgil’s plan to become governor as a lt. governor candidate is just dreaming. I will vote for him regardless.
It’s October, John and that means one of your “Scariest Things in Whitewater” posts. Bet you have at least one item already. 🙂
Spy Vs Spy: Anyone feel like they’re being watched? I’ve observed many telescopes with red lights aburning at night. Some say they’re for watching wildlife…yeah, right…oops, there go my neighbors’ red lights again….hmmmm….
John: Why do you think that Kevin Brunner didn’t understand that someone running a project isn’t supposed to bid on it? Isn’t that obvious? Anyone should know that much.
Not only that, but the letter from the EDA said the violation was “clear” from the grant terms and conditions. Didn’t anyone even read those?
cat lover, I think you need a picture of a cat at the tech park
just make sure its a cat that can read federal rules when there’s a question it can be one meow for yes and two meows for no
I heard two city employees talking at the Sweet Spot: the library will be cutting hours next year. That’s the last place this city needs to cut funding for!
there’s a double standard about these federal rules
when the city manager violates these rules he says that he “really truly” beileved he was doing the right thing
when others break a plain rule in town, how many of them can use that same excuse?
when he wanted to deny any compensation to a vet whose hosue was flooded with sewage he said no because the rules said he didnt have to pay
the rules mattered then, but he doesn’t follow them when he does something
complete double standard
Cat Lover — I will find some cat pictures for posting soon.
Ayn — I certainly will keep at it. Thanks for your encouragement. As for Terry Virgil, an LP candidate for lt. governor, well, one can dream, after all. I know the candidates I’d rather not have; of the rest I’m (as yet) undecided.
Phantom Stranger — I remember Spy v. Spy well. I’d not make the mistake of finding myself in a rivalry with someone of your mysterious origins and formidable abilities. I’d not risk turning on any lights, red or otherwise. 🙂
Anonymous — the Scariest Things in Whitewater, 2010 will be posted on 10/29/10, in time for Halloween
A picture of a cat at the tech park? I’ll have to think about that…. I’m sure I can conjure something….
Anonymous — I simply have no idea why Brunner thought the way he did.
Anonymous — I have not heard about any hours changes planned for the library. It would surely be disconcerting.
I will write a few ideas about budget choices on Monday, and shortly thereafter write about a recent municipal analysis of the city’s fiscal condition.
Budget presentations soon begin in Whitewater, and I will watch them and comment as they proceed.
Anonymous — I agree that the explanation that the city manager thought he was doing the right thing is one that a resident would not be able to use successfully.
That’s an understatement.
It’s also an explanation that others, managing their own grants, will consider — another understatement — unpersuasive.
I just observed the ‘debate’ between Handpicked Republican $$$$ Small Business Man Ron Johnson and Russ Feingold. Would anyone in their right mind mind vote for Johnson…? He looks and sounds and make as much sense as Eb Dawson, the farmhand at Oliver Wendall Douglas’ Green Acres…AKA the Old Haney Place. Honestly. What an embarrassment for the Republicans.
The difference between night and day; good and evil.
As for the Governors race: yes, let’s all please vote for Republican Pretty Boy Walker (the candidate with the hole in his head—bald spot in the back of his pate. If you admire him for slashing budgets in Milwaukee—you ain’t seen nothin’ yet! Lesse see where do we begin…? Halt the High Speed Rail! Let’s go back to ox carts! Can we deny the cable/Internet to rural communities?….hmmm…! Why not—they’ll never know what they didn’t have! Can we make ’em pay for fire service? Or just let their homes burn down if they don’t…Hmmm…Sigh…The Phantom Stranger grows weary of ignorance. My Personal PolitiFact Truth-O-Meter is in the Melt Down Zone…Oy Vey! Enuff is enuff. Good Night Mister and Mrs. America and All the Ships at Sea.
Hello, Mr. Adams. Thank you for allowing us to be the mindset of Whitewater WI, and to actually have a Voice. I guess my Biggest Suggestion to Our City Manager and the City Council and The Whitewater Arts Council would be to please purchase the eyesore properties at the intersection of Wisconsin and Main Streets. I am talking about the Main Entrance to the Banner Inland City. Any person driving into Whitewater, must think—-what an ugly blighted town. Old dysfunctional gas stations. Parents for Freshman Orientation must think their kids ‘will be safe in ‘Hootersville,’ as Lisa Douglas called it….
We laud ourselves on Hanging Boxes, Baskets, and next, Lanterns—who the Hell Notices after crossing Wisconsin and Main Streets???? The area by the RR tracks is a travesty, an an embarrassment and a subject of ridicule from Out of Towners. By the time you cross the tracks, you are numb and don’t notice the mmmm…boxes, lanterns, whatever…why bother;what’s the point???? First Impressions—-City Entrance—Dooh!!!!?????
I don’t think that voting for “no candidate” is a good idea. It seems like it’s a wasted vote (taht’s true in all cases, not just the one you wrote about with a libertarian) There are two main choices and people should decide from those two It’s fine to be part of a third party but you should make your vote count, too
