Continuing a Halloween theme this October —
The recording of Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead by Marion Hutton and Glenn Miller and His Orchestra was made on August 10, 1939. Although Judy Garland had sung portions of the song during recording sessions for The Wizard of Oz, Miller and Hutton’s version was the first standalone recording. (Ella Fitzgerald later recorded a notable version in 1960.)
